California Appellate Court Sets Aside Jury Verdict for Countrywide Whistleblower Wrongfully Terminated

Remember the higher level Countrywide executive who appeared in the recent PBS documentary, the Untouchables?  Apparently, he was fired after refusing to give false information to the Moody’s credit rating agency on behalf of Countrywide.   Well, first he suffered an adverse employment action in the form of a demotion, and a slashing of his budget.  And when Bank of America bought Countywide, he waswrongfully terminated. At least a jury thought so.  But the California appellate court found that the trial judge should have granted judgment notwithstanding the verdict.  Matt Taibbi’s piece on this is called Fallout from ‘Untouchables’ Documentary: Another Wall Street Whistleblower Gets Reamed
